2022 Grant Recipients

PARFREYVILLE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ANNOUNCES GRANT RECIPIENTS

The Parfreyville United Methodist Church (PUMC) Children and Youth Grant Program was made possible by a memorial donation received years ago to be used to help children and youth. The fund has grown sufficiently to now extend the blessings of this gift to help children and youth in the larger community, consistent with the intent of the donors. The PUMC grant committee began awarding grants in 2018 and is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2022 grants:

Waupaca County Suicide Prevention Coalition: Awarded $900 to support the WCSPC’s purchase of Anchor Boxes to provide to Waupaca County churches, schools and libraries (www.findyouranchor.com). The primary goal is to continue to educate teens that there are many options other than suicide and give them tangible items as well as information. The WCSPC is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to promoting positive mental health, diminishing isolation and preventing suicides in Waupaca County.

Trinity’s Tiny Treasures Preschool, Inc.: Awarded $300 to provide a scholastic book program serving preschool students. Supplying books helps with the learning gap that has occurred during COVID and better prepares children for school through early opportunities for learning.

Waupaca Community Arts Hub: Awarded $1000 to support a scholarship fund to offset tuition and help make art and music lessons / classes more accessible to children. The Arts Hub vision is to nurture the creative potential in everyone, providing a place where creativity comes to grow. The First United Methodist Church of Waupaca provides a space in their building for the Arts Hub programming.

Waupaca High School: Awarded $948 to support the project Powering Youth Participation in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and provide the WIRED Robotics Team with funding to purchase lithium ion batteries and battery chargers. The batteries are critical to ensuring success at practice and throughout competition.

Golden Sands Research Conservation and Development Council: Awarded $1000 to support the Waupaca County Conservation Field Day, a full day of outdoor workshops run by volunteers for 300 – 500 5th grade students at Hartman Creek State Park. The event instills a conservation ethic through hands-on learning and has been hosted at no charge by Golden Sands RC & D Council, a non-profit organization, since 1990.

Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services / Children and Family Unit: Awarded $850 to fund supplies and interactive projects / tools for at-risk families with basic needs. The goal is to support family learning, ensure safety, and build support networks in the helping process.

Waupaca County Department of Health and Human Services / Children and Family Unit: Awarded $500 for emergency diapers and have the supply available to keep infants and toddlers healthy in their time of need and to support those who are receiving these children going into care (foster, grandparents or other caregivers in addition to immediate need).

Sleep in Heavenly Peace: Awarded $1000 to support the purchase of mattresses by the Waupaca chapter who supplies beds to children in need. Since the chapter’s beginning in November 2021, volunteers for this non-profit (www.SHPbeds.org) have built 87 beds and delivered 65 beds.
