Creative Caring Hearts

Creative Caring Hearts is a not-for-profit charity providing layettes of homemade items and other supplies to local babies through cooperation with the maternity staff of the local hospitals, county agencies, and emergency shelters. Layettes are also provided upon private request. Approximately 55 women from Central Wisconsin and beyond contribute in some manner with their skills in quilting, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Each layette includes approximately 27 items and is given to a newborn upon the discretion of the maternity staff.

Layettes include:

• Diaper bag • Quilt • Afghan • 2 receiving blankets • 2 gowns • 2 sleepers • 2 onesies • 2 bibs and 2 burp cloths • Sweater or sweater sets (sweater, cap, and booties) • Polar fleece jacket w/mittens • Hat • Booties and/or socks • Toy • Infant appropriate book • Hygiene items when available • Other items as available

Specials projects are also made for missions, dialysis centers, Miracle Tree, Food Pantry, Waushara County Foster Care program, and Siza Botswana (a special relationship with a South African children’s agency through a Janesville, WI, teacher).

Creative Caring Hearts work group meets once a month at Park Vista Retirement Community, where some of the residents join members in completing projects, such as stuffing handmade toys. Funding comes from donations, grants, various church missions, and Hansen Appliance Charity Tree support.
